d(ru)gs run free

a match to my nostalgia.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, directed by George Clooney
I’m a fan of any film that snuffs out it’s Julia Roberts character (charmingly tricked into doing herself in), but credit is due to first time director GC for an entertaining and surprisingly captivating picture.  Of course, much of the slick styled mannerisms used here are transparent rub-offs from Clooney’s time working with Soderbergh (whatever happened to the guy who gave us Out of Sight ?), but they’re borrowed and practiced openly, helping the film keep up with the pace and tweaked mind-set of the Kaufman screenplay.  And the casting of our main man, Sam Rockwell, didn’t hurt the effort much either.  He holds the ship together as usual.
